How high does the ballon go?

Generally a flight will go from just above the tree line to 3000 feet or more.

This will vary depending on the speed and direction the wind. it's possible the balloon could go higher in flight giving passengers a better view - but the aim is to also give a closer view as if floating over the tree tops.
